Tanguy is a drummer, composer and educator. A native of Belgium, Tanguy began playing music at eight years old. By the time he was sixteen, he emerged on the international scene performing with ensembles ranging from orchestral music to contemporary styles. He played in countries across Europe such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Holland.

After completing high school, Tanguy lived in Havana for a year to study Cuban music, where he performed with Cuban pianist Dayramir Gonzalez and studied at the “Instituto Superior de Arte.” In 2009, Tanguy moved to Boston to pursue and complete his bachelor's degree at the famed Berklee College of Music, and then to NYC to obtain his master’s degree in Jazz Studies from Queens College.

Tanguy maintains a consistent teaching, recording, and performing schedule in New York City. He has performed at notable venues and festivals including Lincoln Center, Bar Next Door, Teraza 7, Rue B, Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Ornithology Jazz Club, LeFrak Music Hall, Zinc Bar, Arlene’s Grocery, The Penrose, Falmouth Jazz Festival, Louis Armstrong Wonderful World Festival among many others. He has shared the stage with noteworthy musicians such as: Ed Howard, Tia Fuller, Steve Kortyka, Frank Basile, Joseph Lepore, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, Brandon Lee, Dayramir Gonzales, Antonio Hart, Nick Biello, Sam Blakelock, Chris Bittner, and many others.

Tanguy has been educating through his private studio and with various esteemed music institutions for 10 years. With extensive experience teaching students of all ages, levels, and musical backgrounds, Tanguy is devoted to helping drummers find their spark, inspiring them to love and excel at their craft. He strongly believes that having fun is integral to learning music.
