Nikita is an improviser, composer and instrumentalist whose influences include contemporary notated and improvised music, Renaissance vocal polyphony and pop music. He is a recent graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, where he studied with pianist and composer Anthony Coleman, clarinetist Thomas Martin and composer Stratis Minakakis.

In his teaching, Nikita uses techniques derived from improvisation, composition and standard classical pedagogy, emphasizing deep understanding and expressive freedom in every mode of musical activity. His primary goal is to give each student a fulfilling experience that reflects their unique personality, talents and desires. He believes everyone should have access to music as a lifelong creative outlet and source of joy and awe.
