Gary is a guitarist, composer, educator, and producer based in New York City. He holds a BA, in Jazz Guitar Performance from Wichita State University, Masters of Music in Jazz Studies, and Advanced Certification in Teaching from New York University, and a diploma in Audio Technology from SAE Institute, NY, where he studied recording and audio technology. He has studied guitar privately with: Peter Bernstein, Mike Moreno, and Wayne Krantz, and has studied composition and arranging privately with Gil Goldstein and Alan Ferber.

Gary is an accomplished guitar instructor with 6 years of teaching experience who enjoys working with students of all ages and levels, and he cultivates a passion for music, and playing guitar through individualized tailored lessons. He has taught as an adjunct guitar instructor at New York University, and also serves as a Volunteer virtual guitar instructor for Guitars4Vets, which provides music therapy healing through the joy of learning music for Veterans dealing with PTSD.

Gary served as Guitarist/Band Leader and Musical Director for the US Air Force Bands in Northern California and Japan, where he also produced four Rock/Pop CD recording projects for the Air Force. Gary also performed weekly as a versatile guitarist, playing jazz, R&B and rock in the house band at the Silverado Resort in Napa, CA for over nine years.

As part of the Air Force Band, Gary toured extensively in the United States, Europe, and Japan, as well as performances in Korea, Singapore, Turkey, and Bangladesh. He has also performed in such prestigious venues as the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Dresden Opera House and the Blue Note, NYC. Gary continues to perform jazz trio gigs and solo guitar gigs around NYC.

Gary’s recording “Gratitude” is set for release in 2023 and will feature pianist Santiago Liebson, renowned bassist Drew Gress, and one of New York’s finest jazz drummers Mark Ferber.
