In addition to studying under Dan McGann at Molloy, he had also received an associate’s degree in performance at Nassau Community College, studying under the direction of Stephen Leonard and Bill Zito. Although focusing on classical guitar technique and performance for his degree, John has done fieldwork in the field of music therapy, giving him experience working with children on the autistic spectrum as well as children suffering from other learning disabilities. He has the ambition to ultimately become a professor, aiming to do his master degree work in either music education or ethnomusicology.
John has been giving private guitar lessons since 2006, and has been employed through several notable institutions since. His teaching style aims to meet the personal desires and ambitions of his students while simultaneously instilling a solid understanding of music theory and structure. His laid back and patient approach allows students to feel comfortable to learn and develop at their own pace. Each student is developed a specific lesson plan that is custom designed to help the individual reach their musical goals both personal and academically, allowing them to become the competent musician they want to be.
Aside from his academic achievement, John is also an avid performer. He performs locally as well as touring regularly as a one man band under the title "Astronauto", along with playing guitar in the band "Medicine Fish". John's wide array of musical taste and diverse style has also lead him to playing in and working with many different bands of diverse genres.
