Dylan is a professional guitarist and producer in New York City who received his bachelor’s degree in music from Columbia University in 2020. Music has always been an integral part of his life, studying piano since the age of four, the saxophone since the age of ten, and the guitar since twelve. Growing up on Long Island he studied rock and blues guitar before studying with jazz guitarist Steve Salerno. In high school, he played in groups such as the New York All-State and Suffolk All-County jazz big bands and went through the NYSSMA music assessments on guitar, saxophone, and piano, with honors.

In college, he studied music performance and composition with Paul Bollenback, Ole Mathisen, and acclaimed composer of the creative music collective AACM, George Lewis. He has composed and performed works for chamber ensembles, electronics, big bands, and various small jazz ensembles. His music has been performed by renowned chamber ensembles such as the International Contemporary Ensemble, Fonema Consort, Wet Ink Ensemble, and Flux Quartet. As a composer, his interests lie in blurring the lines between composition and improvisation incorporating elements such as text instructions, variable forms, and jazz style notation.

Currently, Dylan’s musical focus has been on production and working with rappers and singers in Harlem and the Bronx. In the past year, he has released two full-length beat tapes and two EPs under the name Bobby Del G, available on all streaming platforms.

As a teacher, Dylan works by responding to the student’s musical inclinations and teaching them the skills they need to play songs they love at an early age. In conjunction with method books to learn necessary technique, he teaches students the skills to learn songs on their instrument and uses that as a springboard to teach about fundamentals such as chords, accompaniment, and melody.
